Welcome to ClimbNow’s 2007 winter programme. This year we are running a full range of courses from winter skills for munro bagging to grade V gullies on Ben Nevis. A 25% deposit is required as confirmation for all courses 21 days prior to commencement.
This course is aimed at those who are already involved in summer hillwalking but would like to extend their activities to the winter mountains. Essential skills looked at will include appropriate choice of clothing and equipment, ice axe and crampon use, navigation skills and route choice for the winter environment. During the course we will also aim to climb some munros in winter condition.
Pre-requirements
Participants should have some summer hill walking experience and be fit enough to complete a 6-8 hour hillday.
This course, like the Winter Skills course above, also covers winter hillwalking skills. But, on the second day progresses onto winter gully and ridge climbs up to grade II. The course aims to cover skills such as ice axe and crampon use, navigation skills, snow belays and roped movement on graded ground.
Routes ascended may include Ledge Route on Ben Nevis, Broad gully in Glencoe and the East Ridge of Beinn a’Chaorainn. Participants may have the opportunity to lead pitches on certain routes if conditions and ability allow.

This course is aimed at those who have some winter hillwalking experience and would like to sample winter climbing. It is also ideal for those who already climb but would like to try more challenging routes or would like some lead coaching. We will aim to climb routes of Scottish Grade II and above and will cover both mixed ground and snow and ice climbs (conditions allowing).
Routes climbed may include Curved Ridge in Glencoe, Left Twin on Aonach Mor and Tower Ridge on Ben Nevis.
