ClimbNow off piste ski and ski touring courses offer a lifetime of opportunities for the skier looking to get away from the crowds. In recent times we have skied throughout the European Alps, the Southern Alps of New Zealand and Indian Himalaya and have itineraries to suit all abilities. Additionally, Paul can run off piste courses for snowboarders.

The Mont Blanc Massif above Chamonix and surrounding areas such as Les Aravis and the Aiguilles Rouges have a wealth of ski touring terrain on glaciers, through trees, remote hidden valleys and though summer alpine meadows making it a great place to begin ski touring.  This course will cover the skills necessary to enjoy and travel safely through this huge variety of terrain. The course also includes one night in a mountain hut.

intro to off piste: val d'isere & tignes

The Val d’Isere and Tignes area of France has been famous for many years for its on piste skiing.  However, its excellent lift system and two glaciated areas allow quick access to off piste skiing, day touring and provide an excellent launching pad for multi day ski tours.  There are tours of all lengths and difficulty making it the perfect place to learn off piste and ski touring skills. The course will involve one night in a mountain hut.

This ski tour links the French ski resort of Val d’Isere, the Gran Paradiso National Park and the Aosta Valley in Italy. The tour is a linear tour which is not completed very often due to the difficulties of returning to the start point.  However, the Climbnow team will arrange for return transport to our start point. There are many mountains in this area which are suitable for ascents on skis giving plenty of variation and allowing many return trips to be made to this area.

The Western Oberland has a wealth of ski touring opportunities for beginner and intermediate ski tourers as well as some more challenging descents. It is located above the Rhone Valley giving easy access from Geneva and a number of starting points for ski tours.  As many options exist this is a great area to visit time and time again.

The Silvretta area in Austria provides the perfect region for a first ski tour or for those who enjoy ski touring in beautiful mountains where peaks can be climbed or bypassed each day. It is served by magnificent huts which offer very comfortable accommodation and excellent food.

The Haute Maurienne is a wild, unspoilt area of mountains which offers a huge number of summits, cols and glaciers for the ski tourer. A number of the summits are gained with ice axe and crampons giving a mountaineering experience to complement the skiing. The huts are friendly, rarely crowded mid week and provide great bases for a number of peaks.

The ClimbNow team has experience of skiing and ski guiding in many alpine areas including; Les Ecrins, Vanoise, Mont Blanc Massif, the Valais, the Oberland , the Gran Paradiso National Park, the Silvretta and Oztal areas of Austria.  Additionally, they have experience of ski touring in less well know areas by European ski tourers such as the Southern Alps of New Zealand and Kashmir.
