Great Ridges and Buttresses of Scotland

Scotland offers a huge number of routes which give grand days out on terrain similar to that found in the Alps.  The routes listed below give days out on interesting scrambling and rock climbing terrain where the emphasis is on moving for long periods of time using both the hands and feet without the stop/start nature of rock climbing.

Dates: April – October

Ratio: 1:3 maximum

What’s included: Instruction, helmets, harnesses and all technical equipment.

Who’s it for: All keen hill walkers, scramblers or rock climbers.  The course can be tailored to the abilities of the group.

Sample Routes

  • Curved Ridge, North Buttress or Crowberry Ridge on Buachaillie Etive Mor.
  • Ledge Route, Tower Ridge, Castle Ridge, North East Buttress or Observatory Ridge on Ben Nevis.
  • The South East Ridge and Traverse of the Cobbler.
  • Pygmy Ridge and Afterthought Arete in the Northern Cairngorms.
